Seasonal Pear Bread

Jayna and Kinsley love pears 🍐 and I love that I can buy them in preselected bags at the grocery store....but sometimes we just can't keep up with them (or my toddlers are toddlers and decide that they don't want to eat them right after I bought a bag) and now I am left with bruised pears....enter PEAR BREAD.

We made this recipe for the first time this weekend and since it's October, I decided to add all the fall spices in, but I could have easily made this with just a dash of cinnamon if pumpkin pie and nutmeg aren't your thing.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour

  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spices (ground nutmeg and gloves would work too)

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)

  • 1/2 cup apple sauce (you could also use an extra 1/2 cup of butter)

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 3 eggs

  • 2-4 small to medium pears diced in hunks (we kept the skin on)

Instructions:

We are a busy house and I mix everything together to use less dishes and make it quicker. I also swear by our Cuisinart Food Processor that I can throw everything into and then into the dishwasher to clean.

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Add all dry ingredients into the mixer, mix

  3. Add all wet ingredients except the pears, mix

  4. Dice pears and add to mixer, mix one final time

  5. Spread ingredients into a lightly greased bundt pan

  6. Bake for 35-50 minutes
